Our work focuses on helping people move through separation with greater clarity, emotional steadiness and thoughtful decision-making while keeping children’s wellbeing at the centre when families are involved. Separation often brings intense emotions, uncertainty and difficult transitions, even in situations where conflict is not high.
At Rise Up Counselling, we help clients slow things down, understand the emotional and relational dynamics of separation, and respond in ways that support healthier outcomes for themselves, their families and their future relationships. We believe separation does not have to define a family by conflict or failure. With the right support, it can become a foundation for healthier relationships and stronger futures.
Rise Up Counselling was founded by Registered Social Workers Gabbi Silverberg and Helen Yack, who began their careers in child welfare in 1999.
Through decades of experience supporting families and working alongside legal and community systems, they recognized the need for thoughtful, practical support for people navigating the realities of separation and changing family structures.
Our work is grounded in an understanding of the foundations and principles of separation, helping clients move beyond shame, blame and reactivity so they can approach this transition with greater awareness and intention. When children are involved, we support parents in maintaining strong, healthy relationships with their children and making decisions that promote stability, emotional safety, and long-term wellbeing for the family.
