Parent Coaching at Rise Up Counselling provides hands-on, child-focused support for parents seeking practical guidance in building stronger, healthier relationships with their children.
Parent Coaching at Rise Up Counselling provides hands-on, child-focused support for parents seeking practical guidance in building stronger, healthier relationships with their children. This service is designed for parents who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how to respond to their child’s needs, particularly during times of stress, transition, or conflict.
Parent Coaching is collaborative and action-oriented. Informed by clinical knowledge and child development, sessions focus on real-life parenting situations and practical strategies that can be applied immediately.
Parents are supported in responding more intentionally, reducing reactivity, and strengthening connection in everyday interactions.
Separation, divorce, and high-conflict transitions can add complexity to parenting. Children may experience emotional stress during these times, and their behaviour can reflect confusion, fear, anger, or loyalty conflicts. Coaching provides space to step back, gain perspective, and develop thoughtful responses that promote greater stability and emotional safety.
Parenting during separation often brings added emotional and practical challenges. Changes in routines, shifting roles, and ongoing communication with a co-parent can create uncertainty for both parents and children. During this time, children may experience confusion, loyalty conflicts, or heightened emotions, while parents may feel overwhelmed trying to balance their own adjustment with their child’s needs.
Parent Coaching provides support in navigating these complexities by helping parents slow down, respond more intentionally, and focus on building stability and emotional safety. This work supports parents in understanding their child’s experience, strengthening communication, and developing practical strategies that promote healthier parent-child relationships during times of transition.
Supported Families
Coaching focuses on identifying patterns that may contribute to tension or disconnection and replacing them with strategies that foster trust, predictability, and healthier interaction.

Focus Areas
Parent Coaching may be especially helpful for parents/families navigating:
Parent Coaching emphasizes practical application. Sessions may include education about child development, modelling of communication strategies, scenario planning, and reflection on current parenting challenges. Parents are encouraged to set goals and apply strategies between sessions.
Unlike therapy, which may involve deeper emotional processing of past experiences, coaching focuses primarily on the present and future.
The emphasis is on actionable tools that support effective parenting in daily life.
Many parents report feeling more confident and better equipped to manage challenging behaviours after engaging in coaching.
Parent Coaching remains focused on what is within your control, your communication, your boundaries, and how you respond to your child.
We have experience supporting parents in situations involving high conflict, power imbalances, abuse, or coercive control. In these cases, coaching prioritizes clear boundaries, practical strategies, and safe decision-making. The work is structured and focused, helping parents reduce escalation and increase stability in their parenting approach.
Parent Coaching at Rise Up Counselling is practical, structured, and focused on change.
We help parents move from reacting emotionally to responding deliberately. Instead of assigning blame, we examine patterns and identify specific adjustments that can improve connection and reduce conflict.
Our experience working with separation, high-conflict dynamics, reunification processes, and system involvement allows us to support parents who are navigating layered and stressful situations.
We focus on strengthening parental confidence, clarity, and consistency, because children benefit most from steady and predictable parenting
